Liverpool sub felt he had equalised

Liverpool striker Andy Carroll admits he thought his late header in the FA Cup final had gone in. The England international came off the bench and transformed the game, scoring an excellent goal to bring the match back to 2-1 after Chelsea had gone ahead through Ramires and Didier Drogba. Then, in the final minutes, Carroll looked to have levelled with a close-range header but somehow Petr Cech managed to get across and claw the ball to safety. "I thought it was over the line," said Carroll. "I thought it hit the other side of the bar which means it was in really. But I haven't seen it back. "I thought we were unlucky. We had a few chances and we could have put them away, but it's not to be. "All I know is we tried hard. We came here to win. It's been a disappointing season in the league, but we got here and we were unlucky. "I thought the ball was over the line and it could have been extra time - and who knows what happens after that."
