Dane suffers suspected broken rib in Wembley win
Liverpool defender Daniel Agger suffered a suspected broken rib in the Carling Cup final at Wembley.
The centre-back had to be substituted in the 86th minute on Sunday, which meant he ultimately missed his club's penalty shoot-out win over Cardiff.
And Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish confirmed after the dramatic spot-kick success that Agger was set to have an assessment when he returns to the club's Melwood training ground.
The Scot told his club's official website: "I think Daniel has a broken rib."
The Dane has already missed part of the season due to a broken rib after sustaining a fracture against Tottenham last September.
Another Agger absence would be a setback for Liverpool in their fight for fourth place in the Premier League.
But Jamie Carragher, who came on as a replacement at Wembley, would be ready to take his place ahead of next weekend's meeting with top-four rivals Arsenal at Anfield.
