Liverpool have completed the signing of Luis Suarez from Ajax on a five-and-a-half-year contract.
The Reds have confirmed the Uruguay striker has joined for £22.8million after agreeing terms over the weekend and completing a medical at Liverpool's Melwood training ground.
"Liverpool is a very famous club. It is the most famous club in England," Suarez told LFC TV.
Suarez, who will wear the famous number seven shirt, has penned a deal that will keep him on Merseyside until 2016 and becomes manager Kenny Dalglish's first major signing in the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old World Cup marksman is in line to make his Liverpool debut in Wednesday's Premier League clash with Stoke City.
Suarez is expected to be joined by Newcastle United's Andy Carroll at Anfield on transfer deadline day after Liverpool agreed a reported £35million for the centre-forward's services.
But Fernando Torres looks set to leave Liverpool for Chelsea after the champions agreed a rumoured £50million for the Spanish goalscorer.
