Latics boss insists club aren't in talks to sell anyone

Wigan manager Roberto Martinez has dismissed rumours linking Charles N'Zogbia with a move to Liverpool. There has been speculation the two clubs have begun transfer talks for the French winger, with Maynor Figueroa also linked with a switch to Sunderland and Aston Villa. And while Martinez admits it is flattering for players to hear of interest, he reiterated that Wigan do not need to sell in the January transfer window. "It's a compliment when you've a team chasing you that would love to have you in their squad," he said. "It's speculation, but it's positive. When you go into a game on the back of a defeat and you read someone wants you, it's a great lift.

Compliment

"But to get such a compliment it can only help you as a player and the football club as a whole. "But we're not here to try to find business, we don't need to sell players to balance our books, and that's always our position." Wigan suffered a 3-0 defeat at Arsenal on Saturday and host Villa on Tuesday night looking to climb out of the bottom three. And although the Latics are facing a battle to avoid relegation, their manager insists he has no such fears over losing any key players this month. "For me, it's not an issue," Martinez added. "We're not talking to any clubs, so it's not as if there are negotiations that you hope break down. "All our concentration is on what is a huge game for us tomorrow, with the players in the same frame of mind. "The players mentioned have been performing really well for the last season and a half, but they've still a long way to go. "When they do they will get their rewards, both individually and us as a football club."
Feindouno on trial
Meanwhile, Martinez confirmed that Pascal Feindouno is on trial after being released by Qatari club Al-Saad. But Feindhouno's agent, Rui Alves, has urged the media to back off as the 29-year-old Guinea midfielder hopes to earn a contract with Wigan having also attracted interest from Bordeaux and West Brom. "I would like the press to leave Pascal alone now," Alves told skysports.com. "Every hour 50 people are calling, asking the same questions. Pascal is training with Wigan, he's a free agent so we won't rush nothing. "If Roberto Martinez is happy with him, we will talk further. For now, he's just arrived and needs at least 24 hours to settle. Today in Wigan it was five degrees and yesterday in Doha it was 33! "Pascal has nothing to prove to the football world regarding his qualities but he has to prove to Mr Martinez that he's fit and that he can be the missing ingredient for Wigan to achieve his objectives."
