Diego and Gulacsi keen to fight for starting berth

Diego Cavalieri and Peter Gulacsi have both stated their intent to become Liverpool's No.1 goalkeeper. Spain international Jose Reina has been manager Rafa Benitez's first-choice shot-stopper since he arrived at the club in 2005. However, Cavalieri, who signed at Anfield from Palmeiras this summer, is seeking further first-team opportunities after making his competitive debut in the Carling Cup win over Crewe on Tuesday. The Brazilian told the club's official website: "I am happy that I played my part and helped Liverpool to leave the field with the victory.

"I always respect and accept any decision of the coach, but I will be always ready to perform when the chance emerges." Meanwhile, Gulacsi, who joined the Merseyside outfit permanently in the recent transfer window, is also keen to taste first-team action after starting on the bench against Crewe. The 18-year-old told Pepsifoci: "It was a fantastic evening. For me it was a great experience. I enjoyed every minute of it. "I will continue to work very hard and make my debut in the senior team as soon as possible."
