Sven Goran Eriksson plans to offer Manchester City midfielder Michael Johnson a new contract.
The 20-year-old has again been linked with a move to Liverpool, with reports claiming Rafa Benitez is prepared to pay £12million at the end of the season.
City boss Eriksson is fully aware of the rumours concerning Johnson, but has no plans to cash in on the youngster.
Instead, Eriksson is keen to reward Johnson with a new deal at the club, even though it is less than 12 months since his current contract was agreed.
"I have heard that same rumour ever since I joined the club last summer and we have still not been contacted by Liverpool," Eriksson told the Manchester Evening News.
"It was only last summer that Michael signed a new contract and we have already said that we will talk about another one when this season is over."
Johnson was a key figure in City's flying start to the season, but a two-month absence at the turn of the year coincided with the team's slump in form.
