David Mannix has been forced to cut short his loan spell at Accrington and return to Liverpool.
The highly-rated young midfielder joined Accrington on a month's loan last week and went straight into the side for Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Grimsby.
However, he picked up a knee injury and scans revealed that he had suffered ligament damage which would prevent him from playing again until after his loan spell had been due to finish.
Mannix has now gone back to his parent club for treatment on the injury.
Accrington boss John Coleman also brought Crewe defender Adam Dugdale and Cardiff duo Joe Jacobson and Curtis McDonald to The Fraser Eagle Stadium last week on one-month deals.
