Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez has decided not to risk Dutch striker Dirk Kuyt against Blackburn on Saturday.
The forward injured his ankle on international duty and although the knock has proved to be less serious than initially feared, he will take no part against Rovers.
Benitez has one eye on next week's UEFA Champions League encounter with Bordeaux, as he feels an extra couple of days' rest will be of benefit to the former Feyenoord man.
"I spoke with the doctor, and we think it's better if Kuyt is not involved for this game. But he is better and we hope he will be okay for the next game," said Benitez.
Robbie Fowler and Mohamed Sissoko have been carrying back and ankle knocks respectively during the week, but Benitez expects the pair to feature on Saturday.
"Robbie Fowler had a problem with his back, but we think he'll be available, and Momo Sissoko's ankle isn't too bad," the Spaniard added.
Daniel Agger will also be in the squad, despite breaking his hand on international duty for Denmark.
