Crewe boss Dario Gradi is delighted to have sealed the loan signing of Liverpool youngster Danny O'Donnell.
The Premier League officially cleared O'Donnell for the move on Wednesday as he joins Crewe on a six-month loan deal.
The 20-year-old central defender has figured in Liverpool's pre-season campaign so far this summer but Rafa Benitez is keen for him to accrue some valuable first team experience in League One.
Gradi says that he was impressed with O'Donnell's display in a friendly between the two clubs and was delighted with the capture.
"We liked what we saw when Danny played against us in pre-season and inquired about him then," Gradi told the club website.
"It happened quickly once Liverpool said he would be available for loan and I'm sure he will play in some of the games.
"We are determined to play him when we can because he provides good cover for the centre halves we have here."
O'Donnell goes straight into the squad for Saturday's clash at Scunthorpe as he provides cover for injured skipper Neil Cox and the inexperienced Darren Kempson.
As one player comes in, Crewe have allowed young defender Mark Roberts to join Halifax on a six-month loan deal.
