Liverpool's Luis Garcia and West Ham's Hayden Mullins will both miss the FA Cup final after failing to have their red cards rescinded.
The pair appealed to The Football Association for wrongful dismissal following their sending offs in Liverpool's midweek victory at Upton Park.
It means both players will be forced to serve three-game bans therefore ruling them out of the May 13 showpiece.
Both players were sent off by referee Howard Webb late on during Liverpool's 2-1 victory on Wednesday after becoming involved in a scuffle.
Garcia was dismissed for appearing to elbow Mullins in the back, with Mullins seeing red for retaliating and pushing the Spaniard to the ground.
The news is a blow to Rafa Benitez and Alan Pardew as they will both have to prepare for the final without two of their performers.
