Liverpool have announced that midfielder Momo Sissoko's condition is not as bad as being reported in Lisbon.
The player was forced off during his side's 1-0 defeat to Benfica after clashing with Beto and fears began to grow that the Mali international could have seriously damaged his right eye.
However, the club have confirmed that Sissoko's situation has improved and he is now being cared for by some of the country's top eye specialists.
"We are glad to report that there has been an improvement in Momo's condition over the past 24 hours," a club statement read.
"The player was examined by a leading eye specialist who remains optimistic, despite reports emanating from Lisbon.
"Momo has been instructed to rest completely and will be examined again by the specialist next week.
"The progress is encouraging."
