Hearts have contacted Liverpool in a bid to bring Anthony Le Tallec north of the border.

The French youngster is on loan at Sunderland but has flattered to deceive on occasions and may be allowed to move on if all parties agree to a move.

Hearts are willing to take up his loan contract, which runs until the end of the season, and will offer more chance of a regular starting spot in the SPL.

Mick McCarthy may decide not to stand in Le Tallec's way if the forward decides a move to Edinburgh would be a better option as he plans to enter the transfer market himself in January and it would free up room for another loan arrival.

Hearts are also chasing Genk midfielder Mirsad Beslija, who has been interesting Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Leeds United.

Graham Rix is ready to offer the Bosnian a three-and-a-half year deal but a fee has not yet been agreed with Genk.

"He is a good player," Rix told Hearts World. "There is no doubt about that.

"He is an international who knows what he is doing.

"If it all works out, and all things being equal, as they say, he will be a good addition to the team."
