According to reports emanating from the French press, Salif Diao could be heading for Lens.The Liverpool midfielder has failed to establish himself at Anfield and spent a short time at Birmingham last season - before injury curtailed a loan move.
Birmingham boss Steve Bruce conceded at the close of last season that he was unlikely to pursue a permanent deal and it would appear Diao has little chance of making an impression under Rafa Benitez.
Lens currently have another Liverpool player, Alou Diarra, on-loan and should they concur with his parent club then a permanent arrangement may be made.
However, if they fail to land Diarra then they may turn their attention to Diao - with a fee of around £1.5 million having previously been mooted.
