Traore boost for Reds

Liverpool defender Djimi Traore has made a successful return to action.

Liverpool defender Djimi Traore has handed Rafa Benitez a boost after making a successful return to action in the reserves.

The Mali international has been out of action for the last month with a thigh injury he picked up in the Carling Cup defeat to Chelsea.

Traore played the first half of Liverpool's defeat to Wolves on Tuesday night and could return to first team action against Bolton this weekend.

Reds reserve boss Hughie McAuley believes the giant defender could be ready again for the first team.

"Djimi played 45 minutes and looked comfortable so hopefully he is ready now to go straight back into the first team squad," McAuley told the club's official website.

The news will be a lift for Benitez as he has got a number of injury problems to contend with for this weekend's visit of Bolton.
