Gers seal Vignal move

Rangers have completed their move to sign Liverpool full back Gregory Vignal on a one-year loan deal.

The French stopper is surplus to requirements this season at Anfield, and new Reds boss Rafa Benitez has told him he can go out on loan.

Vignal still wants to make his name at Anfield, but is hoping that a good season in The SPL will help convince Benitez he is worthy of a place in his side.

Gers boss Alex McLeish had taken a close look at Vignal in action during a trial stint at Ibrox, and he produced solid displays in friendlies against Fulham and Tottenham.

McLeish has now sealed the deal to keep Vignal in Glasgow for the season, which will see the end of Michael Ball's Rangers career.

"I can confirm that Gregory has signed and will join us on a one-year loan deal," Rangers director of football business Martin Bain told the Scottish Sun.

Rangers can not afford to keep Ball as any further appearances will incur a fresh payment to Everton under the terms of his move from Merseyside.

Vignal is now available for The Light Blues in their UEFA Champions League qualifier against CSKA Moscow next week.
