Liverpool could be ready to recall defender Gregory Vignal from his loan spell at Rennes, according to reports emanating from France.
Reds boss Gerard Houllier has seen his squad decimated by injuries this term and he is believed to be considering recalling Vignal to bolster his ranks.
Vignal joined Rennes on a season-long loan in the summer, but has featured sparingly for the French outfit.
Liverpool are currently limited in their defensive options with Jamie Carragher, Steve Finnan and Stephane Henchoz sidelined and Vignal would strengthen the squad for the busy festive period.
Vignal is likely to jump at the chance of returning to Anfield early as it may give him the chance to stake a claim for a regular first team spot.
