LIVERPOOL star Danny Murphy insists Everton striker Kevin Campbell was not to blame for the ankle injury which is set to sideline the midfielder for a month.

Murphy was carried off with an ankle injury in Monday's reserve game after being tackled by Campbell.

Scans have shown ligament damage to Murphy's ankle and he accepts he is set to be on the sidelines for a month.

"Both Kevin and Everton manager David Moyes came to see me straight after the game to make sure it was not a serious injury," said Murphy.

"I thought that was a really nice gesture by them. It was nothing more than a clumsy tackle by Kevin really, just one of those things.

"It is not a bad knock and I am looking at four weeks out, tops. I hope it will clear up quickly."

Liverpool boss Gerard Houllier also excused Campbell of any blame for the injury.

"The tackle on Danny was not malicious and I was pleased that Kevin Campbell had the grace to enquire how Danny was after the game," said Houllier.
