LIVERPOOL boss Gerard Houllier may look to get special permission from The Football Association to sign a new goalkeeper to ease his injury worries.

With Chris Kirkland suffering a new injury blow and set to be out for six weeks with a groin problem, Houllier has just the inexperienced Patrice Luzi as cover for Jerzy Dudek.

Although the transfer window has closed, special permission can sometimes be obtained to make a new signing to cover for injuries, and Houllier admitted this is the way he may go.

"We are all right for now but it is something we may have to look at," said Houllier.

The Reds will be wrapping Polish international Dudek in cotton wool until Kirkland gets back and any problems with him would undoubtedly see Houllier looking to bring in somebody new.

Luzi is a regular in the reserve side and it would be a massive step up to start a game in The Premiership, but Houllier will be hoping that he does not need to bring a new keeper to Anfield.
