LIVERPOOL boss Gerard Houllier has turned down offers to let young duo Anthony Le Tallec and Florent Sinama-Pongolle return to France on loan.

French champions Lyon were believed to be keen on taking the former Le Havre stars on loan this season as they are unlikely to feature much for Liverpool this year.

Houllier has rejected the approaches for the highly-rated duo and is keen to bed them into his squad at Anfield slowly.

The attacking pair are likely to spend most of the season in the reserves as Houllier wants them to get used to the rigours of English football before bringing them into the first team.

"For the moment it is out of the question to loan them. They need a little time, that's all," said Houllier.
