Kewell raring to go

HARRY KEWELL is looking forward to the new season after getting off the mark for Liverpool in Tuesday's friendly win over Aberdeen.

The Australian international is happy with how life is going at Anfield and has promised there is more to come from the former Leeds star.

"Goals are a big part of my game. But obviously it's more important that I am scoring when the league season starts," said Kewell.

"It's great to be off the mark.

"I haven't even been scoring in training in recent days because I've been hitting the bar and missing lots of chances. It's nice to get on the scoresheet although I didn't think I had to do too much to score because Mo (Michael Owen) did really well to create my chance.

"I just had to hit it past the goalkeeper. I was delighted to see it hit the back of the net."

Kewell has been playing in the unfamiliar position of right wing in pre-season and the 24-year-old revealed it was his preferred role in the side.

"The boss has played me in the right in many of the pre-season games and I hope I can do a job out there for him," added Kewell.

"I like playing in that position. Everyone seems to have an opinion on where I should be playing but the only ones that count are the manager's and mine.

"I can tell you it's a position I like.

"Things couldn't be going better for me. I'm feeling good after my injury and my fitness is building up gradually."
