The young defender is still striving to establish himself at Anfield following his arrival from Montpellier three years ago.
Vignal has made only sporadic appearances for the first team on Merseyside and spent the latter half of last season on loan at Bastia.
The 21-year-old shone during his stint in Le Championnat and also caught the eye of Lyon and Lens, although he is set to have the chance to impress Reds boss Gerard Houllier during pre-season.
Houllier has previously stated Vignal has a promising future but Greek giants Panathinaikos may test the French tactician's resolve to hang on to the youngster's services.
Reports suggest Panathinaikos are ready to table a £1.2 million offer in a bid to tempt Houllier into parting company with Vignal.
