SWISS defender Arnaud Buhler is hoping to win a move to Liverpool after undergoing a trial at Anfield.

The Lausanne-Sports starlet attracted the interest of Reds boss Gerard Houllier during last summer's Under-17 European Championships and the Frenchman has been keeping tabs on him ever since.

Buhler is regarded as one of the best young defenders in Europe, having broken into the Lausanne first team this season.

Houllier was keen to have a closer look at him and invited him for a trial as he looks to bolster his squad for next season.

The 18-year-old was impressed by the club's facilities and admitted he would be keen on a move to Anfield.

"I discovered what it would be like to play for Liverpool," Buhler told Swiss daily 24 Heures. "I took part in training with the first team and the reserves and saw many positive things which made me dream about a successful future."

Buhler is not the first young Swiss defender to catch the eye of Houllier with Servette youngster Philippe Senderos also attracting the interest of Liverpool before he opted to join Arsenal.
