HAKAN YAKIN has pledged his immediate future to Basel, despite claiming Liverpool and Celtic are looking at him.

The Turkish-born Swiss caught the eye with a number of stellar displays in this season's Champions League, and his performances against Celtic, as well as against Manchester United and Liverpool have alerted a number of sides to his talents.

Celtic`s interest was confirmed by the player`s Scottish representative on Monday, and Yakin has admitted Parkhead is an option he would consider.

It would seem, though, that the Scottish champions will face competition from a number of teams, including Liverpool, in the near future.

Yakin, speaking to the Daily Record, said: "I will not be leaving Basel this winter but I will make a decision on my future before our next Champions League match against Deportivo La Coruna on February 19.

"I have heard about the interest from Celtic and at the moment everything is interesting for me. Why not Celtic?

"But there are other offers, including interest from Liverpool, and I will make a final decision at the beginning of February."
