GERARD HOULLIER has backed Czech youngster Milan Baros to come good for Liverpool next season believing a pre-season will benefit the 20-year-old striker.

The Czech international has made just one appearance for The Reds in the scoreless Champions League draw with Barcelona at Camp Nou but Houllier backed the £3.5 million purchase from Banik Ostrava to adapt to life in England.

"It has been difficult for Milan, but he will benefit from being here since Christmas," Houllier told the club's official website.

"It's always hard for a new player to get used to a new country. He's needed time to settle down but he's getting better and better.

"He will also benefit from a good pre-season next year. The same applies to Igor Biscan.

"Gregory Vignal will also feature more again next season. After the summer, he will be refreshed and be back at the standard he was at the start of this season. We also have Markus (Babbel) to return, of course."
