RIGOBERT SONG has completed his move to West Ham, after passing a medical at Upton Park, with Daniel Sjolund heading to Liverpool as part of the deal.
The Hammers have paid £2 million for the Cameroon international in a bid to shore up a defence now lacking the considerable presence of Rio Ferdinand, following his record £18 million transfer to Leeds.
Song has been unsettled at Anfield after failing to hold down a regular place this season, and he will bring a great deal of enthusiasm and aggression to Harry Redknapp`s back-line.
As revealed by planetfootball.com on Thursday, Sjolund joins the Merseysiders as part of the deal with the young Finn definitely marked out as one for the future by Reds boss Gerard Houllier.
"I am buying him for a song," said Redknapp, with typical humour.
"It is not taking up much of the Rio money.
"He can play right back or on the right side of centre half. He makes the odd ricket but he is a whole-hearted player.
"He is a great competitor."
