RIGOBERT SONG has been linked with a £3.5 million deal to move to Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen.

The Cameroon international, who was an African Cup of Nations winner in February, would be offered the chance to play in the centre-back role with the German side.

It is a position he is far more comfortable with from the right-back role he plays at Liverpool. Leverkusen may give Song the opportunity of an earlier predicted move back to the continent.

Song has been linked with a number of clubs since April. They include Celtic, Olympique de Marseille, and Paris Saint Germain.

The Reds bought the tough-tackling defender from Italian side Salernitana for £2.7 million 17 months ago, prior to that he shined at French club FC Metz.

Song was quoted by planetfootball.com on  May 18 as saying: "I'm happy at Liverpool apart from the fact I'm not getting a regular game."
