Loic Remy insists he is eager to impress Jose Mourinho and gain a regular starting place for Chelsea after admitting he had grown frustrated at the club.

Remy’s winning goals against Hull City and Stoke City have edged Chelsea closer to a first league title since 2010, but has played the majority of his games for the Blues from the bench.

Diego Costa has scored 19 Premier League goals since joining from Atletico Madrid in the summer, but Remy is desperate to make his time in the team count.

Speaking on Super Sunday, the Frenchman said: “It's always good to play with this team because since I signed for Chelsea I was a bit frustrated because Diego was on fire, he scored so many goals for the team so I didn't play much.

“Now the opportunity for me to play is here so I want to take my chance and score goals.

“As a striker I have to score. For me I was really pleased and really proud to score for the team.

“It was difficult because you play football and you want to enjoy every game. It is frustrating when you can't really play as much as you want.”

The 28-year-old has scored seven goals for the Blues since joining from QPR in the summer, and despite Mourinho claiming he owes the striker for his important contributions, Remy says it is a privilege to play under the Portuguese boss.

“For me this manager is a really good manager. To have the chance to work with him now is a very good chance. He’s really great, and kind," he said.

“We know him, we know what he’s done in the past. For me to work this type of manager is good because I know I’m going to learn every day.”
