Chelsea striker Didier Drogba admitted the Blues were not at their best during their 2-1 victory over local neighbours Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

Edin Hazard’s 75th minute penalty sealed the win to leave the west London club nine points clear of third-placed Manchester City who play on Sunday.

The veteran Drogba said: “I think our lead shows that we have had a great start to the season and it is good for the morale.

“We have quality and we try to control the games even if today was not our best game at Stamford Bridge. We got the three points and we are still progressing in this league.”

As for the win over Rangers, he added: “That’s the Premier League, that’s the Premier League and that is the beauty of the Premier League. It was also a derby game as well and I think 2-1 is a great result.”

Regarding Sunday’s Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium, Drogba added: “If both teams could lose tomorrow I’d be happy!

“Both teams are a threat so a draw for me would be okay. United are still dangerous. I think it is just a matter of time for them to improve and I think they will improve so I expect them to be a threat as well.”
