Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic has praised new signing Mohamed Salah, saying that his style of play reminds him of Arjen Robben.
Ivanovic has played against the Egypt international four times in the past two years, in the Europa League and Champions League, with the 21-year-old scoring three goals for FC Basel in the process.
Salah signed from the Swiss club last weekend for a fee in the region of £15million, and Ivanovic has tipped the man dubbed the 'Egyptian Messi' to succeed at the club and emulate former Blues winger Robben.
Speaking to The Independent, Ivanovic said: "He was really good against us. He played very well. We know him because we played him four times in two years.
"He is a great player, very quick, and goes forward with the ball. These are the kind of players we need to improve our team.
"He has time, he is young and it is maybe good for him to step up.
"He reminds me of Robben, the way he plays going from the right wing but going inside left-footed. I hope he is going to be important for us."
