Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo insists he is under no pressure, despite speculation linking former Barcelona boss Pep Guardiola with his position.

Di Matteo leads his side against Shakhtar Donetsk in the Champions League on Wednesday but the Italian was keen to emphasise he has the backing of club owner Roman Abramovich.

"From day one, the speculation has always been in the papers, so it doesn't affect me too much," he said.

"I have my own destiny in my hands and the club and the owner is behind it."

Di Matteo also shrugged off suggestions their success in winning the tournament last season would be tainted if they failed to qualify for the knockout stages this time.

"I'm not thinking about that. I really believe this club deserves whatever it can achieve. That's my position," he added.

"I work here for the club and the players. It's not about me. I think it's important for the club to have a successful campaign. That means we need to win tomorrow."
