Thibaut Courtois has extended his loan spell with Atletico Madrid for another season, after spending the entire 2011/12 campaign with the Spanish club.
The Chelsea goalkeeper had the task of replacing David De Gea in the Spanish capital after his move to Manchester United, and made 37 appearances for Los Rojiblancos, keeping 15 clean sheets as they finished fifth in La Liga.
The 20-year-old also made his international debut during 2011/12, becoming the youngest goalkeeper ever to play for Belgium and keeping a clean sheet in a goalless draw with France.
He moved to Stamford Bridge from Belgian side Racing Genk last summer, but has yet to make a senior appearance after being sent straight out on loan.
A statement on Atletico's official website read: "Thibaut Courtois will next season play at Atletico Madrid after Atletico on Wednesday reached an agreement with Chelsea on transfer for a year."
