Juan Mata revealed Chelsea's victory against Bayern Munich to claim their first European Cup was like 'a dream come true'.
The Blues defeated Bayern Munich in a dramatic penalty shoot-out at the Allianz Arena after the two sides had been locked at 1-1 at the end of extra-time.
Didier Drogba stepped up to rifle home the winning penalty for Chelsea after earlier saving his side with an equalising goal two minutes from time to cancel out what looked like the winner from Thomas Muller.
The Spanish midfielder, who joined Chelsea from Valencia for £23.5million last summer, was instrumental in helping the club overcome the Bavarian giants in their own back yard.
Mata, 24, admitted after the game he was simply delighted to become a Champions League winner in his first season at Stamford Bridge.
"It's a dream come true," he told
Sky Sports 1 HD. "It's my first year here at Chelsea and we have won the most important trophy in the final of the Champions League so we are very, very happy.
"I think the most important moment in the game was the goal of Didier. We were losing with almost 90 minutes on the clock and we got back in the game.
"During extra-time we ran a lot and we defended well. Penalties are a lottery and it was amazing for us."

Meanwhile, Fernando Torres was asked if there was added pressure on him when he came onto the pitch as a late substitute soon after the Blues fell behind in the game.
"I think we showed great character," said the striker. "We had the Napoli game in our minds and we knew it was going to be like that but Didier (Drogba) scored a great goal to equalise and with the missed penalty (from Arjen Robben in the first period of extra-time) I think we're the right team to win this.
"We needed to attack once we conceded. It was like we had the handbrake on, looking like we couldn't attack, but I think we could, and in extra-time we showed we could play counter-attacking football as well.
"I was expecting to start, just like all the other players, but not everyone can start.
"I was happy for Ryan (Bertrand) because he deserved to start, but in the end I came on and was able to help the team.
"It was a very difficult season and nobody believed in us but in the end we did it."
