Chelsea defender Gary Cahill hailed the last six months as 'unbelievable' after seeing the club win two trophies since signing from Bolton in January.
The former Trotters skipper left Owen Coye's strugglers to join the Blues, believing the move would not only bring him a taste of Champions League football but also cement his place in England's Euro 2012 squad.
And now the 26-year-old centre-half has ended up as part of a squad that has won the FA Cup against Liverpool and the European Cup in less than six months.
The Premier League club beat Bayern Munich 4-3 in a penalty shoot-out at the Allianz Arena after the game had finished 1-1 after extra-time.
Didier Drogba struck the winning penalty having also headed home an 88th minute equaliser to cancel out Thomas Muller's opener for Bayern five minutes previously.
"It's absolutely unbelievable," a delighted Cahill told
Sky Sports 1 HD.
"I can't really put it into words. I came here to win trophies and to pick two up in six months has been absolutely unbelievable."
Nerve wracking
Cahill was always confident of making the game after being troubled by a hamstring injury which had threatened to spoil his dreams of appearing in the final.
"I felt it (hamstring) slightly but I was never going to miss the game," he said. "It wasn't ideal under any circumstances.
"Obviously I only trained about three days leading up to the game so it's just amazing especially as it went to extra-time, we didn't need that. I'm absolutely over the moon.
"I felt cramp more than anything but I thought that lads were tremendous and we showed that spirit that we showed in the previous games leading up to this one."
Cahill revealed he was due to take the sixth spot-kick of the shoot-out but was just happy to see Drogba put away his penalty to win the game.
"It was nerve wracking. I was just praying Didier would stick the ball away so I didn't have to go up, but it was just amazing."
