Luiz and Cahill return to training, but Malouda may miss final

Chelsea manager Roberto Di Matteo has confirmed that David Luiz and Gary Cahill are ready to return to training ahead of the UEFA Champions League final. The pair are due to be put through their paces alongside the rest of their team-mates on Tuesday. They will then be given as long as possible to prove their fitness heading into the weekend. Chelsea face Bayern Munich in the final of Europe's premier club competition on Saturday. They are desperate to have Luiz and Cahill available at the Allianz Arena, with fellow defenders John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic set to miss out through suspension.

Fitness race

Blues boss Di Matteo admits the pair's fitness race will 'probably' go down to the wire, but he has been boosted by their presence at the training ground. "Gary and David are going to train with us today," said Di Matteo. Chelsea may, however, be without Florent Malouda this weekend, with the France international having picked up a hamstring injury during the Blues' final Premier League fixture against Blackburn. Di Matteo said: "Flo, we'll still assess and it's going to be touch and go for him to be available for Saturday."
