Boss delighted to sign off domestic season with win

Roberto Di Matteo praised Chelsea's professionalism after they ended their domestic season with a win after refusing to get distracted by the impending UEFA Champions League final. The Blues brought their campaign to a close with a 2-1 victory over Blackburn at Stamford Bridge, with John Terry and Raul Meireles getting on the scoresheet within three minutes of each other in the opening half. Caretaker manager Di Matteo was pleased to see his side sign off their Premier League season on a high ahead of Saturday's crucial decider at Bayern Munich.

Focus

"To focus on a game like this with the final coming up is not easy," he told Sky Sports. "It was very hard but we were very professional today. "It was difficult to focus today but we are looking forward now to Saturday and preparing for Saturday as well. "It's going to be a historic game for us. We're going to go with a lot of confidence and belief that we can bring the trophy home." Di Matteo gave some of his younger players a run-out as he rested several of Chelsea's stars ahead of Saturday's final, with Romelu Lukaku and Sam Hutchinson making their full Premier League debuts. The boss was impressed by their performances, adding: "I wanted to give a couple of them a run-out and an opportunity, also to show our supporters the club cares about the academy and the youth system that we have here. "It was good to see them and Ryan Bertrand has played a few games lately for us as well so it was good to see the future of this club." The interim boss remained tight-lipped over his own future when asked whether Sunday's game could be his last home match in charge at Stamford Bridge.
Thanks
He added: "It doesn't matter. I've just had a great time here. It's been fantastic for me. "I'd like to thank everybody at the club from the boss to everybody, the staff, the players. They've been magnificent with me and I will always have a legacy here with the club whatever happens." Florent Malouda was substituted late in the first half with a hamstring problem and Di Matteo is hoping he recovers in time for next Saturday's final. He added: "We had to take him off with a tight hamstring so we'll have to see how bad it is. Hopefully he can recover as soon as possible."
