Andre Schurrle: Chelsea have been linked with the Germany international for more than a year
Bayer Leverkusen forward Andre Schurrle has hinted he would be interested in joining Chelsea.
The FA Cup winners and UEFA Champions League finalists have already signed Marko Marin for next season and they have also been linked with another raid on the Bundesliga.
Schurrle claims he has yet to have any contact from Chelsea, who this summer are expected to change their squad and lower the average age, despite rumours of interest for more than a year.
But he could be open to talks, as the £15million-rated 21-year-old German international told Sky in his homeland: "I and my agent have not had any contact so we will just have to wait.
"We will see how interesting it is when it becomes concrete."
Meanwhile, Leverkusen director of sport Rudi Voller says interim coaches Sami Hyypia and Sascha Lewandowski could take charge on a full-time basis after a successful end to the season.
A 4-1 win at Nurnberg on Saturday clinched fifth place in the Bundesliga and an automatic berth in the group stages of the Europa League next term, and Voller hailed the duo's contribution.
After taking over from Robin Dutt on 1st April, former Liverpool defender Hyypia and Lewandowski guided Leverkusen to an unbeaten run of four wins and two draws from six matches.
"When you pick up points like that, then it is a positive argument," Voller said in Kicker.
"And when you also see how the pair were accepted by the team, then you can imagine continuing with both of them."
Leverkusen have been in no rush to find a permanent successor for Dutt, but now the season is over and they know what competitions they will be playing in next season, the search can start in earnest.
"It would be negligent of us not to consider other options," added Voller. "We will now analyse things in depth."
