Chelsea manager delighted to follow Barca win with Emirates draw

Roberto Di Matteo was proud of the effort put in by his Chelsea players following their goalless draw at Arsenal on Saturday lunchtime. Di Matteo decided to make eight changes to his starting XI for the trip to Emirates Stadium after beating Barcelona 1-0 in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League semi-final in midweek. The Blues head to Camp Nou on Tuesday for the conclusion of their European tie and Di Matteo has made his feelings about the gruelling fixture list clear. But he was delighted with the battling qualities displayed by his men against Arsenal as he feels a draw keeps their good run of form going. Di Matteo believes Chelsea are currently playing well enough to achieve all their targets for the rest of the season, despite still occupying sixth place in the league. "It was a brilliant team performance, you come to the Emirates and it's difficult to play against Arsenal," said the Italian.

Getting better

"If we'd had a bit more quality with our final pass, that let us down, but apart from that it was a fantastic performance. "I'm happy with our commitment, we made a lot of changes today, everyone showed they're all Chelsea players. "This was our third game in less than six days, the way they've responded to this, personally I think it's crazy, but we showed there's great quality in this team and our spirit is high. "This keeps our momentum going and our confidence high. We believe we're getting better and better and can achieve any results that we want."
