Chelsea defender only interested in Champions League

Chelsea defender David Luiz has admitted he does not want to be involved in the Europa League with the Blues next season. The Stamford Bridge side are currently outside the top four in the Premier League and have a fight on their hands to overhaul London rivals Arsenal or Tottenham in the remaining games of the season to secure another season of UEFA Champions League football. One alternative route back to the top table of continental competition would be to lift the trophy this term, with the Blues looking on course to secure a semi-final showdown with Barcelona or AC Milan. Roberto di Matteo's side welcome Benfica to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening for the second leg of their quarter-final clash holding a slender but important 1-0 advantage from the first meeting in Portugal earlier this week. And Luiz insists that Chelsea's season can still be deemed a success despite their Premier League struggles as they are challenging for silverware on two fronts.

Nothing

The Brazil international told reporters: "When I joined the club I wanted to win the Champions League. I don't want to play in the Europa League, I want to be in the Champions League. "I know we're not in a good position in the league, but it is possible for us to win the Champions League and FA Cup still. "And don't forget that either Manchester United or Manchester City will finish the season by winning nothing." The former Benfica player made the move to West London for £21million in January last year and believes he has made a smooth transition into Premier League life. He added: "I feel I have adapted well and Chelsea have helped me a lot. "I like the Premier League and I feel it is magical because it always comes down to the last minute to see who will finish first."
