Blues snap up youngster from Nottingham Forest

Patrick Bamford has joined Chelsea from Nottingham Forest for an undisclosed fee. The 18-year-old striker's deal at the City Ground was due to expire in the summer and Forest decided it was best to cash in on the youngster rather than let him leave on a free. He had been offered a new deal at the East Midlands club but the forward made it clear he didn't see his future at the relegation-threatened side. A statement on Forest's official website read: "Bamford's current Forest contract was due to expire this summer and despite being offered the most lucrative contract ever tabled by the Reds for a player of his age, his representatives had indicated he would not re-sign with the club. "He travelled south for talks earlier today after Forest agreed a fee with Chelsea before completing the formalities of his switch to Stamford Bridge. "The fee Forest have negotiated with Chelsea includes a sell-on clause."
