Chelsea have confirmed that Gael Kakuta has joined their Premier League rivals Bolton on loan until 1st January.

Bolton land Chelsea winger on short-term deal

Chelsea have confirmed that Gael Kakuta has joined their Premier League rivals Bolton on loan until 1st January. The French winger took in a spell at Fulham last season, as he waits for the chance to force his way into the first-team fold at Stamford Bridge. His path may be blocked at the moment, but the Blues hold the 20-year-old in high regard and hope he will be returned to them in the New Year ready to stake a claim for a regular role. A move to the Reebok Stadium will see Kakuta follow in the footsteps of Chelsea team-mate Daniel Sturridge, who enjoyed a productive spell with the Trotters in 2010/11.

Deal

A statement released on Chelsea's official website read: "Gael Kakuta has tonight joined Bolton Wanderers on loan until January 1. "To date, Kakuta has made 16 Chelsea appearances since making his debut in a 4-0 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in November 2009. "The playmaker spent several months on loan at Fulham last season under Mark Hughes, appearing seven times in their colours and scoring his first senior goal in their 3-0 win at Sunderland in April. "He signed a long-term deal with the club in December 2010 which will keep him at Stamford Bridge until 2015."
Progress
Bolton boss Owen Coyle is delighted to have landed another player of considerable promise and is looking forward to working with Kakuta. "I'm delighted that Chelsea have enabled us to take Gael on loan and I'd like to thank (manager) Andre Villas-Boas and the club for that," said the Scot. "He is someone whose progress we have tracked since he first broke into the Chelsea first team a couple of years ago. "He is skilful, quick, exciting to watch and I'm really looking forward to working with him."
