Italians reveal player is close to England switch

Palermo vice-president Guglielmo Micciche says Javier Pastore is 'very likely' to join Chelsea. The Sicilian club's chief Maurizio Zamparini stated on Saturday that Manchester City and Roma, along with Chelsea, were interested in landing the Argentine forward. But now Micciche has admitted that Chelsea are in pole position to land the 22-year-old, who Palermo have previously insisted would cost any side €45million (£39.7m). "We are talking about a great player who, in my opinion, is extraordinary," Micciche explained to Radio Sportiva. "There is no doubt that he should be sold for several reasons. He wants a big club and negotiations are well advanced with a very important team. "His agent is working well and if someone pays the right amount we are happy to let him go. "Very likely he will go to Chelsea but I think there are many other clubs of that level looking at the boy." Micciche ruled out any suggestion of a player plus cash deal for Pastore, adding: "We don't want any players in exchange, it would be impossible because it would mean taking players of a level that Palermo could not afford."
