Carlo Ancelotti has praised Fernando Torres' team ethic and has backed him to break his scoring duck.
The Spanish striker is yet to find the target for Chelsea since completing a record-breaking £50million move from Liverpool during the January transfer window.
The funds involved in his deadline day switch were always going to put pressure on him to hit the ground running, with an immediate return expected on such a sizeable outlay.
Part of the problem for Ancelotti since acquiring the World Cup winner has been how to fit him into his side, with Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka already vying for striking berths.
The Italian is yet to bring the best out of that prolific trio, with Torres still searching for his first goal as a Chelsea player.
Ancelotti is, however, pleased with the impact his big-money signing has made and is convinced it is only a matter of time before he is back on the scoresheet.
Settling
"For the strikers it's important to score," he said ahead of a UEFA Champions League clash with Copenhagen on Wednesday.
"In my opinion [Torres] has played well for the team and has done what I asked him to do on the pitch.
"The only problem is because he's a new player and he needs to know our kind of play better, but I think he will score."
Torres has also made a positive impression on his new team-mates, with Serbian defender Branislav Ivanovic of the opinion that the former Atletico Madrid frontman will prove to be a valuable addition.
"Fernando is great, he is a fantastic, world-class player of a different quality," he said.
"He can give a lot of things to Chelsea. It's difficult at the moment because he needs to adapt to a new club, but the players trust him and he knows he can be important to us."
