Bayer Leverkusen are reported to have won the race to sign former star Michael Ballack.
Bayer are one of number of sides to have held talks with the 33-year-old after he was released by Chelsea at the end of last season.
The Bundesliga club have insisted they want a decision made by Monday and it looks like being a positive one for Leverkusen.
"By the start of training on Monday we want clarity," Bayer general manager Wolfgang Holzhauser toldExpress.
Bayer sporting director Rudi Voller insisted, though, that Ballack will not be hurried into a decision.
"We are battling with a host of good clubs for Michael's services. We have good arguments on our sides. I hope he opts for us," said Voller.
"We will not put Michael under pressure. It certainly does not depend on one or two days."
Ballack now looks to have agreed a two-year deal to rejoin the club where he spent three years prior to joining Bayern Munich in 2002.
