Marco Branca has admitted that Inter Milan may have to buy one or two players of the 'highest quality' for the start of next season as speculation continues over the future of Chelsea striker Didier Drogba.
Drogba has endured a difficult campaign at Stamford Bridge, being hampered by injuries and with Luiz Felipe Scolari regularly selecting Nicolas Anelka ahead of him in a lone striking role.
The Ivory Coast international has been linked with a move to Inter since Jose Mourinho took charge at the Giuseppe Meazza.
Inter did not try to sign Drogba during the recent transfer window but sporting director Branca has refused to rule out a summer swoop.
He insists Inter have yet to identify their transfer targets but added: "Drogba? At the moment we don't have clear objectives, we know that most probably we will need to buy one or two new players next season, but only of the highest quality."
Ricardo Quaresma has joined Chelsea on loan from Inter for the rest of the season after struggling to settle into Mourinho's side.
If the winger is successful there is a chance Scolari will try to make the move permanent but Inter are not yet sure whether they would let him go.
"Chelsea strongly wanted Quaresma, there was no hidden agenda, we only wanted to give him a chance to play more and grow, then next year we will decide what to do with him," said Branca.
