Michael Ballack thinks Chelsea can pile the pressure on champions Manchester United this Sunday.
The Blues entertain United at Stamford Bridge this weekend - a match you can see live on Sky Sports 1.
Chelsea would go nine points clear of United with victory and even at this early stage the German insists that would be significant.
"It's a big chance for us to make a gap," said Ballack.
"We can be clear by six points, even though they have played a game less.
"It's never easy when you are always behind and you have to close the gap from nine to six points, and you are playing a day after your rivals.
"We dealt with that and maybe we can reverse it this season."
Ballack made his return from a foot injury on Tuesday as he came off the bench during the win over Bordeaux.
He is now hoping to be involved against United but does not think he will start the match.
"Maybe it is a bit early for me, I don't know what the coach thinks. I need more training sessions," he said.
