John Obi Mikel believes Chelsea have a 'very good chance' of winning the UEFA Champions League this season.
The Blues will be looking to go one step further than last term when they kick off their European campaign against Bordeaux on Tuesday.
Chelsea lost the final to Manchester United on penalties and Mikel admits the pain of defeat was difficult to stomach.
However, the Nigerian midfielder is convinced that his side can bounce back from the disappointment and enjoy another long run in the competition.
He said: "It has been a long time since the Champions League final.
"We all felt really bad after the game and we know what we lost - but this season we have a very good chance of winning it."
Mikel feels the difference could be the impact of Deco, who has settled in quickly after moving to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona over the summer.
"I think he brings a lot to the team. Everyone can see the way he plays, I think he gives us a lot of options in the middle when we play," Mikel commented.
"He always wants to express himself, be on the ball and when you have players like that in the middle with you, you will have more options.
"The manager wants us to pass the ball around, and I think Deco is a brilliant player. He gives us a lot."
