CARRAGHER V DROGBA
Jamie Carragher is an old hand when it comes to big European nights. He has strength and great organisation and is not daunted by any opponent. The Liverpudlian has blossomed into one of Rafael Benitez's most consistent performers.
Didier Drogba has not had the easiest of seasons, disrupted by injury and the African Cup of Nations, and he has been consistently linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge. However, the Ivory Coast striker - although not as prolific during this campaign - is a huge threat because of his power and pace and ability to either thrive alone or bring others into play.
GERRARD V LAMPARD
Steven Gerrard is one of the most influential midfielders in England and his contribution to Liverpool is enormous. The Reds skipper is equally adept at defending as attacking and he covers a huge amount of ground in every game. His advanced midfield role can make him very difficult to mark freeing up team-mates and unbalancing the opposition. The England midfielder also has a fierce shot and his scoring contribution is vital to the team.
Frank Lampard has not had the best of seasons by his high standards but has shown signs of a return to form of late. He has missed Chelsea's last couple of games due to personal reasons but will be back on Tuesday and his drive from midfield and eye for goal will be vital in both legs.
TORRES V TERRY
Fernando Torres has made an instant transition to English football after his move from Atletico Madrid. The Spaniard has an all-round game to trouble any defence with his pace, dribbling, ability in the air and clinical finishing.
John Terry is pivotal to his side's stability and the team will rely on his customary leadership. Although he has had a mixed season punctuated by injury, off-field criticism and losing the England captaincy, the defender has immense influence and 100% commitment and can knit the side together in the face of pressure.
