Rakitic: Ready for new challenge
Highly-rated Schalke midfielder Ivan Rakitic has admitted he is keen to join a bigger club to 'move on' in his career.
Juventus are rumoured to be ready for a summer move for Rakitic, while Internazionale, Liverpool and Chelsea have also been suggested as possible destinations.
And the 19-year-old Croatian, who joined Schalke in 2007, confesses he is keen for a new challenge and that he is not concerned by which European country he moves to.
"Knowing that major European clubs such as Juventus are interested in me is a great honour and I am looking forward to moving on with my career," Rakitic told Croatian daily Jutarnji List.
"I haven't started negotiating with anyone yet but I have no preferences as far as countries are concerned.
"The only thing that matters is my future and I will choose an environment in which I can advance most."
It has been rumoured that Rakitic is unsettled at Schalke because of his limited first-team opportunities under coach Mirko Slomka.
Rakitic was left out of Schalke's penalty shoot-out victory over Porto in the last 16 of the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday and the former Basel player admits he has been left in the dark by Slomka's team selections.
"I don't know why I did not play from the start against Porto," added Rakitic. "The coach apparently wanted us to play defensively."
