Bertrand, Pattison, Camara sign, but Smith leaves

Norwich City have brought in Ryan Bertrand from Chelsea, re-signed Mo Camara on loan and completed a permanent deal for Matty Pattison. Bertrand has linked up with the Canaries until the end of the season, having spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Oldham Athletic. He made 21 appearances in League One and Norwich boss Glenn Roeder is confident the defender can take the step up in division in his stride. "We have been following Ryan at Oldham and we've been very impressed," Roeder told the club's official website.

"We believe he can step up to the Championship and help us to pick up as many points as we can." Roeder has also spent an undisclosed fee to secure Pattison on a three-and-a-half year contract from Newcastle United. The winger moved to Carrow Road in November and has so far made 10 appearances for the club. Experienced defender Camara has rejoined the Canaries on loan for the remainder of the season, having recently completed a loan spell from Derby County. But Roeder has lost the services of midfielder Jimmy Smith, who has been recalled by Chelsea after injuries blighted his loan stay at Norwich.
