David Albelda believes Valencia were hard done by against Chelsea in the UEFA Champions League.
The Spanish side fell to a 2-1 defeat at The Mestalla despite going ahead through David Villa inside the first ten minutes.
Goals from Joe Cole and Didier Drogba either side of half-time meant Valencia went away empty-handed.
Captain Albelda says his side should have got something from the game, but remains confident for the rest of the campaign.
"Chelsea did not deserve the victory," he told the Spanish media.
"Valencia were superior in the game but like last season, when we have scored the first goal we have not closed out the match.
"Against a side at that level that is dangerous.
"Still, with four matches in the group to go I am optimistic about our qualification."
Albelda was impressed with the performance of Drogba, admitting Valencia struggled against the Chelsea striker.
"Drogba is sensational," Albelda added.
"For me he was the key in The Mestalla and not only because of the goal but his movement as well."
